I’m Rachael Maddux, a writer and editor living in Decatur, Ga.
My essays, features and reviews have appeared in The Oxford American, Slate, The Paris Review’s Daily blog and elsewhere.
By day, I’m a writer and editor at MailChimp. In a former life, I was assistant editor of the Georgia Tech Alumni Magazine, and before that I was an editor at Paste. In 2010 I was a finalist for a National Magazine Award in Reviews & Criticism.
I used to write about music but not so much anymore. Lately I’m more interested in mortality and childhood and family histories and small towns and sandwiches and dogs.
I grew up in Chattanooga, Tenn., and graduated from Oglethorpe University with a degree in Media, Rhetoric and Culture. I live in a tiny old house with a dude name Joe and a mutt named Charles Darwin.
