This is a photo I took of my cousin Marie standing in a u-pick strawberry field near the coast in California sometime in late Septemeber 2010 when I visited her for a couple days after I lost my job. And this is a thing I wrote about that trip, up today on The Billfold.

Really really wishing I was back there today.
By way of welcome and encouragement, here is one of my favorite photos I’ve ever taken of the aforementioned Marie. She’s standing on some train tracks about a minute’s walk from a cliff that overlooks the bay, somewhere off the San Mateo coast when I visited her in California last fall. This was after we ate a lot of strawberries and cheese. It was a really good day.
